The product

KC Fringe brings theater, dance, film, music, visual art, and other experimental work to venues across Kansas City. Its mobile app helped festival-goers navigate a dense schedule and carry the event experience with them.

KCUR documented a smartphone app as part of the festival in 2013. For the festival’s tenth anniversary in 2014, KCUR reported separate Apple and Android apps alongside 363 performances, 124 artists, and 19 venues.

The tenth-anniversary campaign

VML Kansas City partnered with KC Fringe on a new website and an enhanced mobile app. WPP’s 2014 pro bono report says mobile app sessions rose 87% and ticket sales rose 30% across the wider anniversary campaign.

Those figures describe campaign performance. They provide context for the product’s reach without attributing the results to one feature or contributor.

What survives

The original App Store listing is no longer available, and verified screenshots of this version have not surfaced. The visuals on this page document the festival around the app rather than recreating the interface.
